Early Life & Career 

Professional wrestler and actor Dwayne "The Rock" Douglas Johnson was born on May 2, 1972, in Hayward, California. The grandson of professional wrestler Peter "High Chief" Fanene Maivia and son of wrestler Rocky Johnson, the young Johnson grew up watching his father perform in the ring. With no plans to follow in his footsteps, Johnson played college football at the University of Miami, showing promise with his size and athleticism until being slowed by injuries.

The Rock

With few prospects in professional football, Johnson turned to wrestling, debuting in the WWF against the Brooklyn Brawler in Texas. After a couple more matches, including a tag team win with Bart Sawyer, the WWF signed him under the name Flex Kavana. A year later, he joined The Nation of Domination, eventually taking over its leadership. Dwayne got his screen name "The Rock" during his professional WWE wrestling career.

He later joined another band of elite wrestlers known as The Corporation and began a notorious feud with Steve Austin. Also known as "The People's Champ," The Rock went on to win a combined 17 WWF/WWE titles over his acclaimed career.

Johnson is considered to be "the biggest superstar" in the wrestling history as affirmed by WWE legend Hulk Hogan. 

 

His entertainment career started when he took the lead role in the 2002 movie, The Scorpion King. The movie became a hit which earned him roles in several other films in the course of his showbiz career. He has been casted and given major roles in big hits such as The Game Plan, Faster and portrays the character of Luke Hobbs, the overzealous and adrenaline junkie detective helping, if not going after, the lead characters of the movie franchise, Fast and Furious.

He also gained praises in many other movies that he starred in, making him the top-grossing actor of 2013, according to Forbes magazine.

Dwayne Johnson is known by his ring name The Rock. Dwayne Johnson is an actor and wrestler. He was listed in the Guinness World Records as the highest-paid actor in his first starring role. The actor received US $5,5 million for the debut role in the movie The Mummy Returns. Viewers also remember Dwayne Johnson in such popular films as The Mummy Returns, Walking Tall, The Rundown, Doom, Tooth Fairy, The Other Guys, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Hercules and in a number of films of The Fast and The Furious franchise.

Dwayne was born on May 2, 1972, in America. Dwayne Johnson is also an ethnic Polynesian and black Canadian (Nova Scotian), but what is more important The Rock comes from a family of wrestlers. Dwayne's grandfather, father, uncles, cousins earned a living by wrestling. Even his mother and grandmother were involved in wrestling, his mother was the promoter of his father, and his grandmother was the director of the female club.
